Fred deakin

A cross-disciplinary artist, educator and musician, Fred DEAKIN is best known as half of the Mercury/Brit nominated electronica duo Lemon Jelly who have sold over half a million albums, toured Europe and the UK, and headlined stages at many festivals including Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds and TED. From 2013 to 2020 he was Professor of Digital Arts at the University of the Arts London. Previously Fred was founder/director of the ground-breaking London digital design studio Airside which won and was nominated for two Baftas, nine D&ADs, four Design Week awards including Best in Show and a Webby among many other awards. 

In the last decade his company FANDCO has produced several large-scale interactive gallery installations and immersive live performances blending music, technology, interactive design and improvisational theatre. His recent projects include a mixed reality at-home performance artefact developed as part of the UK’s Digital Catapult Creative XR programme, and The Galaxicle Implosions, an interactive animated sci-fi series created live in VR and delivered to an in-theatre and online audience, which was awarded an audience-ready fund from the UK Canada Immersive Exchange and which he will describing in detail during his presentation at Stereopsia.
