Hugo Paredes received B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minho, and the Habilitation title from the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD). He was a software engineer at SiBS,S.A. and NBO, S.A. Currently he is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at UTAD, where he is the Director of the PhD in Informatics. In 2017 he was visiting faculty in the HCII at CMU. He is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Human-Centered Computing and Information Science (HumanISE) at INESC TEC, and formerly Assistant Coordinator. His main research interests are in the domain of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), namely the topic of Human-AI applied to climate change, accessibility, and active and healthy ageing. He is a member of the board of editors and was guest editor Special Issues in JCR journals and organized several international conferences. He has co-authored more than 140 refereed articles. He is one of the inventors of a granted patent and a patent pending request. He is the coordinator of H2020 VR2Care project (GA 951978) and has participated and lead other national and international projects, with public and private funding.
